Bigger the mess...bigger the fun!

WE HAVE POWER...WOOHOO!!!

We came home this morning and sure enough, the power was back on (and most importantly it has stayed on all day!!!)

To celebrate we broke out the finger paints!

Started out nice and tidy

Then Lauren discovered body painting

Logan

Didn't take long for the boys to pick up Lauren's new craft. Logan was trying to bath himself in paint!

Lauren

Took a break from body painting and moved back to the paper. Not for long though!

Messy Hands!

Triple the mess!

They had paint on their feet and kept telling me it was "slippity"

So slippity, they held hands to help each other!

Logan, serious and back to business!

Messy from head to toe!

Very happy to report that Crayola Washable Finger Paints are indeed washable. They rinsed right off!

We followed our rinse with a nice warm bath (and then a nice long nap!)

Bummer

This morning we made a stop by the house and were VERY encouraged when we passed two electric company trucks coming out of our neighborhood. I told the kids there was a very good chance that our house had been fixed (they talk all the time now about how Ike broke our house). Lauren waved to the trucks and started clapping! When we pulled into the driveway I could see our porch light on. We all did a little happy dance and then went inside. It was like Christmas morning for the babies. They hadn't seen their toys in 2 weeks! They just kept saying "OH!!" and would run from toy to toy. We spent a good 30 minutes at the house with them getting reacquainted with every room and object in the house. They were silly excited! Since weren't expecting to stay, I told the babies that we would go back to Grammie's to nap and that we would pack up all of our stuff and be back home later, after Daddy got off work.

Which we did.

We napped, ate a yummy Grammie dinner, STUFFED our cars with all of the belongings we'd accumulated over the past two weeks (which was an absurd amount!) and said our goodbyes to Grammie and Aunt Pammie. As we shut the back of the car, I joked that it would be pretty funny if we got back to the house with all of this stuff, only to find that the power that we had this morning was a fluke. Turns out it really wasn't that funny! We pulled in to a very dark neighborhood and found our house to be powerless. Our neighbor said it was on from about 11am to around 5:30 this evening. It was getting late, the babies were cranky so we decided to just come back over to Grammie's. We'll try again this weekend! At least we know it CAN come back on and we're very thankful to have somewhere to go. The triplets are wacky enough to keep up with in daylight...I'd rather not see what they can come up with in total darkness!

So I'll leave this with Lauren's quote that has been repeated over and over and over again these past few days...

"Ike - GET YOU!"

(This is her response to things like bees, snakes, lions, tigers and now hurricanes!)

Baby Doll London

Last weekend we went to Target with Aunt Pammie. She bought each of the babies a toy...the boys each got a tractor and Lauren got a baby boy baby doll that she named London.

Lauren LOVES her baby London. She'll even wake up in the middle of the night looking for him.

Logan ALSO loves London! Twice I've seen him bring Lauren a toy and when she isn't looking, he'll sneak away with the doll! Today at naptime I watched him very patiently wait until Lauren was asleep and then he very carefully slipped the doll out of her arms, hugged him tight and then went to sleep!

I think we'll be making a run to Target later this afternoon to Logan his OWN London baby doll!

Fun with Avery

Today we went to lunch with Avery and Nat.
Afterwards we played in the fountains!

Lauren preferred to sit on the side as a spectator rather than getting splashed

Super great group photo! No one would look!

Even better! Couldn't even bribe them with candy!

Urgent Care

No adventure would be complete without a trip to the urgent care center right???

Logan made sure we could mark that off of our list.

Last week Logan had a fever for a day. The fever went away but the crankiness stayed (especially at night). He just wasn't acting himself and we felt like something was wrong. We got back into town Friday night and went to pick up some of our things before we came back to Grammie's to stay the night (power still out). On our way to Grammie's Logan started up again just as we were passing an urgent care center. Being that the weekend was upon us and that we weren't sure who would be open due to the storm, we went ahead and took him in.

It was a little chaotic...they had been couped up in the car all day. The ER room was their first chance to let loose!

Luckily the room was pretty large and had lots to keep them entertained!

Not too much could make Loggie smile, until he got a spin in the doctor's chair!

Lauren climbing...

Oh, that new smile!

Lathan and Lauren drumming

Turns out Logan had plenty of reason to be cranky. Ear and a throat infection. Nothing a good antibiotic, some hugs and LOTS of ice cream couldn't fix!!!

YUMMY!!!

* We went by our house again today and our area is still without power. The news and our provider's website both say we should be back up by Thursday...fingers crossed! Luckily for us, we have somewhere to go (THANKS GRAMMIE) but boy do we miss being at home!
