Mardi Gras '08

Last year's Mardi Gras was so much fun that we just HAD to do it again!

First stop though...Dr. Savrick's office. Our main concern was for Lathan and his lungs. They had really started to sound terrible and his treatments didn't seem to be doing any good. Lauren and Logan had had a minor case of the sniffles so we went ahead and made appointments for all. Good thing we did...we had a round of double ear infections for everyone!

Lathan was wheezing of course when we got to the doctor so they immediately put him on the nebulizer. We were prescribed some inhaled steroids and will do round the clock Albuterol treatments for the next 10 days. So far, so good. He already seems to be doing MUCH better!

Since no one seemed to be feeling bad, we packed up our antibiotics and kept our plans to head to Louisiana for Mardi Gras.

Daniel was so excited to see us!

Not only was it Mardi Gras but since we didn't get to see the Poole's this year for the holidays, it was also Christmas!!!

Saturday night, we bundled up and headed off to the parade.

Lathan, Lauren and Logan nice and toasty complete with footed blanket sleepers, fleece snowsuits, organic knit hats and gloves and their teddy toes blankets (I know, I know Abby...you're cracking up right now...it was probably in the 40's and we were acting like it was 40 below!!!!)

Aunt JuJu and Emmy, plus me and my gang!

The boys pooped out pretty quickly...

But not Miss Lauren!!! She would squeal as each float passed by!

Her stamina payed off...so many beads that we had to stop putting them around her neck (she was starting to lean!)

For dinner Uncle Marty made a big pot of his famous Red Beans and Rice

Lauren REALLY liked it!

But as much as my kids liked the beans, no one could have liked them more than Miss Emmy!

How cute is she taking her bath in the sink!!!

Oh What Fun

This morning I was getting Lauren dressed for ballet and I put her hair in pigtails. Lathan watched me fix Lauren's and then started pointing to his hair, requesting that his too, be styled. When Logan saw Lathan's hair, then he of course wanted the same. The boys better be glad I didn't get a better picture of this...it would have definitely been mantle material!

Afterwards we took the girls to Starbucks

Lauren was extra tired so we headed home and all took a big nap. We woke up hungry so I took the trio to Cafe Express. Aunt Pammie joined us at the end - the babies were so glad to see her!

And then we ran into Target. Who knew Twizzlers were so messy!?!?!!

Terrific Tuesday!

Finger painting for the first time (I cheated a little and gave them Color Wonder paints - wasn't quite up for the real deal!)....

We went over the process repeatedly...
1) Dip Finger in Water
2) Dip Finger into the paint (this has to be the same finger you just wet - we forgot this a time or two!)
3) Put the SAME Finger that you Dipped in Water and Then in Paint onto the Paper.

Overall a successful project!

Onto playtime...

A toy that has stood the test of time in our house - Leapfrog's Tad...the babies have always loved this toy.

Grammie bought the babies their first one back in the fall of '06. With its lights and two different settings of music (day and night) we always found a use for it, whether it be the car or putting the babies to sleep (which was his main purpose for the first few months). Once Grammie saw how popular the original Tad was, she went out and bought 2 more. I think the thought behind that was so that when they moved to their cribs they could each have one. As you all know, they still aren't in their own beds but we found other uses for our multiple Tad's! It cracks me up because in so many of our pictures we have "Tad Toes"! Anyway, once we moved into the new house we replaced the batteries of all of the babies old toys. They quickly rekindled their love for many of the oldies, Tad most of all!

Another favorite amongst the three...Daddy's Shoes!

Today we had a weigh in, the verdict...

Lathan, the youngest of the three weighed in at a hefty 29lbs!!! This means he's almost jumped into a new category for his age on his growth chart...the 75-90% (he's dangling on the 74% line!)

Lauren, a cool 22 lbs! (This puts her at 8% for her age, the highest she's EVER been is 9%) She's still longer than Logan though!

And Loggie Bear weighed in at a solid 25lbs! (He, too, is making his way into un-charted territory. He's dangling on 24%, just below the 25-50% mark! )

Weigh to grow little ones!
