No go!

Yesterday was the deadline for entries for Shutterfly's Cutest Kid photo contest. I tried one more time to take my bucket pictures. Lathan's reaction says it all!

Their First Birthday...

Grandma Gonna Be ordered me preemie dolls for Christmas. They are the EXACT size that the triplets were April 25, 2006. The dolls are made using the hospital measurements (head circumference, length, weight, foot length, etc) and truly show, much better than pictures, how tiny our three were. If we would have been able to hold them the day they were born this is what they would have looked like...

And one year later...

We sure have come a long way!!!

Our first birthday...

Poor little ones spent their first birthday not feeling well. Logan is still recovering from his ear infection and Lauren and Lathan both stayed up Tuesday night/Wednesday morning burning up with fever. We ended up spending much of our afternoon at the pediatrician.

Here they are waiting to be seen by the doctor. They really didn't look sick!

And other than a fever, there wasn't anything wrong with them. She checked their ears, throats, etc and nothing appeared to be out of whack. Assuming its just a little virus she sent us home with some instructions for some over the counter meds.

By the time the evening rolled around, everyone seemed to be feeling ok so we kept our dinner plans and took the birthday babies to Fuddruckers.

The trio shared their first hotdog and had an array of desserts. Fuddruckers gave them ice cream and Granny brought them cupcakes!

We finished up our celebration at the resteraunt and then took the babies home to open thier presents from Grammie.

Lathan rings the bell...he had a GREAT time!!!

Grammie has us set for summer. Each baby got all kinds of beach stuff including sand toys, swim suits and Lauren's favorite, a tiny boat!

It turned out to be a pretty good day and now we're going to work on getting/keeping these little ones well for their party this weekend!

Growing Up

Within the past two weeks Logan and Lauren have started to clap and pretty much do it all the time. (Escecially Logan, if he get excited, does something good, or hears music!)

Logan Clapping

Lauren can stand unassisted pretty easily. Most often its when she isn't paying attention and just lets go of whatever she was holding on to. Of course she turns to jello when I try and film her!

Lauren Standing (for a few seconds in the video though she can go longer!)

And Lathan has mastered the new walker toy that we bought last week. Shouldn't be too much longer and he'll be walking on his own!

They're just so much fun!!!!!!!!

Logan and other news...

Poor little Logan has been sick all week. The boys both had fever Monday night, but it turned out to be nothing for Lathan. Logan, however, just wasn't acting right on Tuesday and began throwing up Tuesday night. (Hence the towel on Daddy's lap!)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

He woke up fine on Wednesday, but his fever was back by late that evening. We scheduled him a doctor's appointment for Thursday even though once again he woke up fever free and playing pretty much like normal.

Logan was accompanied by the whole gang to his appointment.

He found his picture on the Wall Of Fame in the hallway of the pedi office.

Turns out the little guy has an ear infection. Our first one for the whole group EVER...I'm impressed! The doctor was very sweet and even offered to check out Lathan & Lauren just to be safe. All ears, except Logan's right, looked perfect. Like Patrick told her, 1 out of 6 ain't bad (Logan might disagree!).

She was filling in for our regular pedicatrician and asked us what prescriptions Logan had been on lately. She was very pleased to hear that we hadn't needed ANY prescriptions since our NICU days. We can't believe how lucky we are!

We were sent home with some Bubble Gum medicine and he already seems to be feeling better. Way to go Loggie!

And I feel the need to post some pictures from last weekend and this past week before I get too far behind.

Last Friday, I took the babies up to visit our pals at The Woodlands High School. Lauren felt honored to be the first of the trio held by our favorite Principal, Mr. Colschen. He's an amazing guy and Lauren must have sensed that. When he went to hand her over for someone else to hold, she grabbed on to his shirt and wouldn't let go!

After the school visit, we headed off to Toys R Us. I recently found a Christmas gift card that hadn't been used and even though their birthday is/was coming up, I thought they deserved some more toys! Besides by the time their birthday rolls around, they'll probably be sick of these new ones anyway! We had a great time, just the 4 of us, but it became comical as I added more and more things to the stroller. I rearranged the babies, was carrying as much as possible and trying to manuever the "not so light" stroller one handed, through the store and towards the cashier.

Not far from the checkout, I saw a container of balls and since they were in the babies' colors (pink, green and blue), I couldn't resist. Only problem was I didn't have any room left in the stroller or my arms. I tried to get each baby to hold their own ball which was a mistake. Balls were flying out of our stroller left and right. I was chasing them all over the store and as soon as I would get one "secured" another baby would throw theirs out. Luckily the balls fit in a bag for my trip through the parking lot!

On Saturday, Grandma & Grandpa came out for a visit. We went to lunch at Brooklyn Bagel (one of my favorites) and then to Houston Garden Center for Patrick to get some new plants for our yard.

On Sunday, Grammie took the trio to her house so that Mommy and Daddy could look for the bottom of theirs. We got a lot done and hope to get even more done this weekend when she takes them again! Its so nice having her so close by and we love the fact that her house is 100% babyproofed! She shuts off the doors to the bedrooms, has completely rearranged her kitchen and shelves, removed any questionable furniture and has more toys at her place than we probably do at ours! She even has a stash of baby food and formula (along with spoons, bottles & diapers) so there's nothing for us to pack when we visit! She sent me pictures of their playdate last Sunday but I haven't uploaded them yet. I'll update them soon.

Since Logan was sick we didn't get out much but we did go to Papadeaux's with the Pool's on Wednesday night...YUMMY!

Ok...now I think I'm caught up and ready for the weekend!!!

Take A Walk With Us

Its about that time! On Sunday, April 29th we'll be heading up to the front of The Woodlands for the annual March of Dimes WalkAmerica and we can't wait! This will be our first year to walk as a family team and we want it to be big!

We're hoping that Team Guinn Triplets is HUGE and that as many of our friends and family as possible will walk with us. Its our turn to give back and support an organization that means so much to us.

We'll be walking this year, obviously in honor of Lathan, Logan and Lauren who lives were saved due to March of Dimes medical breakthroughs, a major one being artificial surfactant.
We watched our preemies fight each and every day to breath and stay alive and we've vowed to do our part to ensure all other preemies have happy endings just like ours.

We'll also be walking in honor of all our preemie buddies including:

Kennedy, Taylor, Madison, McKinley surviving quintuplets born at 26 weeks and their angel brother Carter.

Emmy, Nicholas & Willam, triplets born at 32 weeks who were our roomies in the NICU.

For Makenna, Isabelle and Alyssa...The Georgia Guinn Triplets!!!

Eden & Holland

Hallie & her angel sister Olivia

Edwin & Serena these little miracles were born at 23 weeks both weighing 1 lb 3oz. The little girl dropped down to 14oz and they were told that the little boy had a 0% chance of surviving. Check them out now!!!

Cole, Paige and their angel sister Kaylee

Elizabeth, William & Carolyn

and our newest preemie friends, Adam & Andrew.

So if you're going to be around and you want to support a REALLY good cause, join our team and walk with us. We even have matching family team shirts!!!

The Front:

The Back: its kind of hard to see in the picture but its a list of our preemie buddies that we're walking in honor/memory of

And if you can't walk, feel free to make a donation to sponsor our team, every little bit counts! Imagine if everyone gave $5...

Picnic

Today we had a little picnic outside on our back porch.

The babies sat in the chairs for all of about 30 seconds...

and then were off to climb and explore!

It was pretty warm so I got out a little swimming pool
and put some water in it.

Laughing

The babies can be so silly sometimes with the littlest things setting them off into belly laughs. This video is the end of an "episode". By the time I got the camera and out of the way they had pretty much stopped, but you'll get the idea!

Our First Easter

First of all, we need to thank Grandpa Kenny for our new camera...the Canon Rebel XTi!!! It arrived about 2 weeks ago and we are still learning about all of its features. It is super quick (definetly helpful when trying to capture the trio in action) and takes the prettiest pictures. THANK YOU SO MUCH GRANDPA...YOU'RE THE BEST!!!

**********************************************************

Two weekends ago it became official...Aunt Ali and Uncle Aaron got married! Daddy was a groomsmen and we had wedding activites to attend both Friday and Saturday. Grammie watched the babies while we attended the rehearsal dinner on Friday night and then we got an extra treat on Saturday when Grandpa and Grandma Gonna Be came out and watched the babies while we went to the wedding. They got us a hotel room at the Marriott and gave us the entire night off! Lathan had been up for most of Friday night and wasn't feeling well on Saturday so we shipped him off to stay with Aunt Pammie and left Logan and Lauren with the grandparents for a night of spoiling (and I'm pretty sure Lathan got a good dose of spoiling too spending the night with Aunt Pammie). It was a fun but hectic weekend so Daddy took off Monday for us all to regroup. Monday was our first attempt at the bucket pictures (which still haven't turned out just right) and we were able to run lots of errands.

On Wednesday, Granny, Baubka, and Aunt Darlene came over to watch the babies while I went to Texas Women's to look at the babies medical records. I knew that the babies had been given things like immunizations during their stay and I didn't want to wait too long to get all of their information. I faxed in a records request and got a call a few days later. Each babies record contained 5-9,000 pages and pages were copied based on a per page fee. I could either pay a pretty heafty fee or go down and dig through the files myself and pull out what I really needed. So the sitters arrived Wednesday morning and I spent the day reading medical files. I was able to meet up with one of my nurses for lunch and I got tons of info on the babies. Some of it will be very useful and some of it I got just for fun. The nurses from each shift would write daily notes on the babies. It's like a detailed diary of the first 2 1/2 months of their lives. I wish I could have copied all of it but my hand could only write so fast and the fee for copies was a little outrageous ($1.33 PER PAGE)!!! Here's an idea of what was written in their files...

"Mom at bedside, bonding evident"
"Mom and Dad seem very excited about triplets"
"Both parents involved in infant's care"
"Grandma visited and read books to baby"
"Mom confident changing NG tube, no hesitation" (Now this couldn't be further from the truth! I had to prove that I could change Logan's NG tube before we took him home. I was holding back tears and fighting not to gag as I shoved a tube up his nose and down to his stomach, all while he screamed of course!)

And in my file:
"Patient eating a Sonic lunch with husband and friends"
"Patient's family brought Papasitto's for dinner"
"Patient sleeping with husband by her side"

It was fun to read and maybe someday I'll go back and be able to read some more.

On Thursday I took the babies up to Market Street only to find that it was closed, (they are putting in new grass for the park area) so instead we went to Northshore Park and played with the ducks. The babies had a blast until they realized that I was feeding the ducks their puffs and then they no longer wanted to share! We moved over to the playground part, Grammie met up with us and then we went out to dinner with Daddy.

Then came Friday. Daddy was off and we spent the day packing and trying to get ready to leave town for Shreveport. The babies did EXCELLENT in the car, only requiring one stop to eat, a huge improvement over the last two trips. We arrived in Shreveport right before 11pm, visited for a while and then all went to bed. We got up on Saturday to some pretty cold weather but had made plans to attend an Easter Egg Hunt at the Bossier City Boardwalk so we loaded up and caught the end of the festivties. We hunted eggs, ate some lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings and shopped a little. There just happened to be a Gap and Children's Place that the guys were begging to go into!!!

On our way home we stopped at the DRIVE THRU DAQUIRI place where we hit happy hour (2 for 1) and then went back to Aunt Sue's. My Godmother, Nani, her husband Tommy and their son Matthew came over to meet the trio.

And then of course, later that night we died Easter Eggs.

Now what I didn't mention above was that while Grandpa and Grandma watched the babies for Daddy and I to attend Ali and Aaron's wedding, they taught Logan how to throw a ball. He's really pretty good at it and he even claps his hands after he does it, and we now know that he can throw eggs!!!

Once all the eggs were died (or cracked) we bathed the babies and put them down so that the Easter Bunny could come.
