Beach Trip
We started our annual summer beach vacation with a 14 hour road trip (prior to babies it only used to take us 10 hours)!
Lathan Taking His Turn Driving

Since the triplets aren't speaking sentences, I made shirts for them that asked the question I knew was on all of their minds...

The babies were great on the trip, watching movies, playing with each other and of course sleeping...

We got to our condo late last night, went to bed and then got up early this morning to hit the beach. It was the babies first time!!!
Our Condos
Sue, Marty, Robert, Daniel, Granny & Pappa are staying in the left one, Mommy, Daddy, Lathan, Logan, Lauren, Grammie, Aunt Pammie, Jason, Aunt JuJu, Uncle Josh & Emmy are all in the right (which is a three story, though you can't tell by the picture!)

Not too many people can convince me to sit in the sand...but how could I resist?!?

Fire!!!
Aunt Pammie came over and we played a little and then spent most of the afternoon running errands and getting ready for our trip. We went grocery shopping...
and then came home. Daddy ran back to the store to pick up some milk and Aunt Pammie started to cook dinner. Grammie and I had the babies in the living room when Aunt Pammie started to sound concerned. The tortillas for her soup were starting to burn and even though she had taken the pan off of the stove there was an awful lot of smoke filling the room. Then all of the sudden the pan caught fire (IN AUNT PAMMIE'S HAND) and the smoke detectors went off. The babies weren't impressed with the noise as Grammie and I ran them out the back door. Luckily Aunt Pammie knew not to throw water on the grease (I knew that but my initial reaction was to grab the water hose!!!) and instead of sitting the pan back on the stove she set it in the middle of the kitchen on the tile. The flames by this point were well above her waist high and the smoke had filled the downstairs. She picked up the phone and dialed 911 as Grammie and I ran around to the front of the house with the babies.
Daddy drove up in the middle of the chaos and even though the 911 operator said that no one should go back in the house, Daddy ran and got the fire extinguisher and was able to put the fire out. OUR HERO!!! It was a good thing that he was able to get it taken care of too, because at the time it seemed like an eternity before the firetrucks arrived (all THREE of them!!!) and we could have had some real damage on our hands if we'd had to wait. The firemen checked the house, opened all of the downstairs windows and doors and fanned the smoke out.
Grammie took the babies to her house so that they wouldn't breathe the smoke and could get a good nights rest while the air clears. We have already had to replace all of the air filters in the house (they were jet black) and we'll change them out again tomorrow. Aunt Pammie and I have spent the last few HOURS wiping soot from EVERYTHING in the kitchen and all of the toys, etc in the living room and dining room. So many things to be thankful for tonight (little things like placing the pan on the tile instead of on the stove where the flames would have touched the cabinets and quickly caught the whole place on fire); and of course we are thankful that no one was hurt.
Tonight makes me think that eating out from now on until the babies are able to run out the door themselves, is in the best interest of our family! (Not that I've cooked in MONTHS anyways!!!)

The house was still very dark and smokey even after the firemen used their fans to blow the smoke out.

A Daddy & His Daddy
Grandpa & Daddy
And on Friday, Grammie and Aunt Pammie watched the babies while I took a trip to Urban Retreat. I was able to get my hair cut, highlighted and I got a 50 minute massage. The massage was so great in fact that once it was over and the lady left the room, I accidentaly fell asleep and I have no idea for how long! I'm thinking it was at least 30 minutes and maybe much longer! In my defense, we were in the midst of a teething cycle and no one in our house had slept for two days!!!
Anyway, I know that I THOROUGHLY enjoyed my day at the spa and Patrick was really excited about the fishing trip...THANK YOU SO MUCH KENNY!!!
Overdue Post!!!
I had my D&C on the 11th and Aunt Pammie, Grammie & Aunt JuJu all went above and beyond to take care of the little ones (apparently they thought pain meds and triplets weren't a good combination)! Aunt Pammie kept them the day before my surgery while I did all of the preop stuff. Then she took over again, bright and early that next morning while Patrick and I headed to the hospital. Grammie stopped by on her lunch break and Aunt JuJu and Emmy arrived early that afternoon. They kept the babies overnight two nights in a row which was extremely helpful since I was told not to lift anything heavy for two weeks following the procedure (I have since broken that rule!). They were so helpful in fact, that when Aunt Pammie was leaving, Lathan waved to her and said "bye bye Momma"!!!
The D&C went well and we are thankful to have that behind us and a fresh start ahead. One of the preop nurses did make a comment that is STILL bugging me though. When asking about my medical history and prior pregnancies I told her about the triplets. Her response was "oh... so you didn't need this baby anyway". Ugh. I'd be willing to bet she's never lost a pregnancy and she probably had no trouble conceiving. Some people just don't get it. Oh well, moving on!
What ELSE have we been up to?
We've...
Had dinner at The Wilson's:

Spent the day at ITZ (thanks for the idea Kearly Zoo!):

Lathan Playing Skiball
(Every since Lathan was pretty little he has always closed his eyes tight in anticipation of loud noices like car doors closing, etc. He did the same thing each time the skiball hit the table!)

Logan is WILD playing skiball!

It was a day (actually weekend) full of fun with cousins!
Robert & Daniel

Not only were there games for the little ones, but the big kids found stuff to do too!

Your ticket into ITZ is an all you can eat buffet stocked with pizza, tacos, salads and our favorite...ice cream!

And I wish that we would have taken a picture of all of the little ones dressed a like at the beginning of our outing. This one was taken at the end when all were pretty tired and worn out!

Then, last Monday the trio celebrated their 1 Year Due Date Birthday (that's about the only perk I can think of that comes with being a preemie...You have TONS of birthdays and milestones to celebrate!!!)
Last year Aunt JuJu & Aunt Pammie got the little ones a cookie cake to celebrate...

THIS year, Grammie got the babies a new car for their "birthday"!

Logan

The babies LOVE the car and Lathan has mastered giving rides, and pushes the others around the living room. What he hasn't mastered is waiting until the rider is ready and aware that they are about to get a ride. Nor does he know that you have to push from behind, otherwise...

Not only did the babies get a new car on their birthday, but so did Mommy! We upgraded from our Ford Explorer to a much roomier Z71 Suburban!

So now instead of the babies being squished (and able to steal each others toys and bottles)

They each have their own space!

And that's pretty much what we've been up to. Lauren did find a lovely Beret in a stack of some hand me downs from a co worker of Patrick's. I guess its from wearing a bow all of the time...the girl likes to wear hats!
She played with the beret on...

Ate lunch with the beret on...

Climbed the stairs in a beret...

And even enjoyed a popcicle in a beret...

Gotta Love Her!!!

And last but not least, this past Saturday, Daddy and the boys had a night to themselves while Lauren, Grammie and I attended a wedding. Lauren had been a little under the weather earlier that day and wasn't in the best of moods, but she did pretty well and I think she enjoyed her Girl's Night Out!

Now then, I think I'm caught up...I'm off to bed!!!!!!!!
