Sickies...

My little ones are not feeling well at all (hasn't slowed them down too much though!)...

We've made it pretty far without everyone getting sick. Until today the babies really haven't ever been sick, at least not all at once. Lauren had a stomach bug earlier in the fall but that only lasted a couple of hours (it only became a problem when she refused to eat) and Lathan had a cough around Christmas time, but other than that we have really dodged a big bullet.

When we left the hospital this summer, we were told that the first few weeks were critical in keeping everyone healthy. If anyone came down with a fever they would most likely have to be readmitted to the NICU. So we locked our doors, allowing very few visitors and made some house rules. No kids, no outings (other than doctor appointments), everyone washes their hands and anyone who wants to hold a baby must wear a pretty yellow hospital gown. We gradually added to our list of visitors and later on took the babies on outings. We may have hurt some feelings along the way but it turned out to be well worth it...no one got sick.

Our next goal was to make it to 6 months adjusted age (Christmas time). After that the babies immune systems had had enough time to catch up from their prematurity. We met that goal, keeping hand sanitizer scattered thoughout the house (we all have nice dry hands to prove it!) and trying our best to keep the babies reasonably germ free.

We still have the sanitizers throughout the house and are still cautious of their surroundings but the germs finally won and all of the babies have a cold. Runny noses, fever, crankiness...we've got it. The really hard part is that they all just want to be held.

Although its no fun seeing them sick, we knew this was inevitable and will probably make them stronger when its all said and done.

On a happy note...our January pictures have been added to our Shutterfly collection (http://www.guinntriplets.shutterfly.com/action/).

  1. Hey Guinn Triplets from Texas,
The Guinn Girls from ATL wanted to say that we are sorry to hear that you guys are sick. We are all home now at almost four months. It is fun to see what is in store for us very soon. We love the picture with the chairs. Our mommy is going to have to get us some.

  5. It's no fun to have sick babies ... for them or for you! You have really been lucky. I swear my boys used to be on a 2-month cycle. They would get an runny nose and cough/congestion that would ALWAYS turn into an ear infection. We would get back to 100% and then it would start all over again! and yes, all they want you to do is hold them!

I LOVE the pictures of them in their chairs. I'm going to order some of those from Pottery Barn for my boys. They have had some oshkosh ones since xmas 2005 and they are so dirty now and you can't wash those!
