Every month since this past September, we have had to load the babies up and take them to the dreaded Community Center for their Synagis shots (a shot to prevent the RSV virus which is potentially fatal for preemies). The babies get their temps taken, get weighed and then get stuck in their thighs with big fat needles. For the first round, it was just one shot but from each month on, they have each received 2 shots, one in each leg, each visit. Poor Logan this time got THREE sticks. The nurse gave him one shot in his left leg and then went for the right. She pulled the needle out too soon and realized afterwards that there was still medicine in the syringe. So she had to replace the needle tip (all while Loggie laid there screaming) and then stuck him again. He definitely deserves a big prize for being so brave. (I'm thinking Disney World!)
We are very thankful to Grammie (& Aunt Pammie) for always making sure there was a third set of arms to comfort the babies after their shots. It usually happened so quickly, all three would end up crying at once so it was very nice to have loved ones there to give lots of hugs and attention to calm them down quickly.
Thankfully our "season" is over and we won't need anymore Synagis shots until at least next fall (and depending on their health for the next few months, they may never need them again!).
Here are their weights from their visit...
Lathan broke the 20lb mark weighing in at 20lbs 8oz!!!
Logan trailing at 18lbs 2oz
and our little Missy was a whopping 16lbs 11 oz!
To end the day we took the babies for a stroll in their Choo Choo Wagon around where else, but Market Street. (We need to find a new hang out...all of our pictures are beginning to look the same!!!)

What a sweet picture of Patrick and Lathan!
ReplyDeleteYAY, no more shots..hopefully!
ReplyDeleteHey Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the no more shots! I can't believe that you have to take your babes to get the shots. Next year, ask the DR to write a referral for home visits. It is much easier. You may have to fight with insurance, but it is completely worth it. We have a nice nurse who comes to the house and gives the shots. The pictures are wonderful!
Uh oh...I see crawling babies...you are in trouble now!!! =)
ReplyDeleteI so LOVE watching the babies grow! My bet is no more shots. You guys are doing such a great job! The babies look absolutely wonderful! : )
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you have some sweet babies :) I can't believe I have to wait so long to see them again!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Stephanie...your babies are so precious!!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah! What a great feeling to be done with Synagis. I doubt we will qualify next year so this was it forever for us! No more stickies until their 12 month check up.
