The Dreaded Eye Exams

At Texas Chidlren's for our eye exams.
Since the triplets all had ROP when they were preemies, they are at risk for some pretty major eye issues. When they were born their eyes weren't fully developed and the blood vessels that supplied blood to their retinas began to grow improperly, causing scar tissue.

This appointment had me nervous - though it all turned out super in the end!

Minnie's Turn

The nurse patching Logan's eye. The kids were sooooo good and we were complimented left and right from the staff, and even the grumpy doctor. Part of their exam was uncomfortable (they had to stop for Logan because he was holding his breath and sweating - they thought he was going to pass out) but he never complained once. Lauren cried a little but was still cooperative.

Post Eye Exams...the kids got AMAZING reports! The doctor said based on reading their NICU charts, that he couldn't believe these were the same kids. He told us he'd be surprised if they ever needed anything other than reading glasses when they turned 40. He said we had miracles on our hands, which we already knew (and which of course made me cry! Patrick thinks its silly but he doesn't read the blogs and websites I read that have such heartbreaking stories. I know how incredibly blessed we are and how this could have turned very differently). We left with a huge weight off our chests, bound for Galveston for a fun weekend with Grandpa and Grandma!
