Colorado Day 4

Colorado Day 4

Our biggest adventure of our vacation...Rafting down the Rio Grande River!!!

Lauren trying out a duckie

Our tube!

As soon as we started unloading the rafts, it started to rain. It had rained every AFTERNOON of our vacation so far, but never in the morning...grrrr. It was cold outside so putting the kids in the river without rain gear wasn't going to work. We didn't think the rain would last long so we went and bought some panchos and waited for a clearing in the sky. (The rain ended up chasing us the entire trip down the river so we were very glad we had decided to pancho up!!!)

The Poole Fam

Our family...

I wasn't able to take many pictures because it was a rough ride and with rain and I couldn't get the camera wet. Otherwise, you'd see pictures of us running into trees, crashing into the banks, kids crying, Daniel flipping out of his duckie and a few potty words from the adults :) It really was fun, minus a few scares, and would have been much better if the COLD rain had stayed away!

Here's a happy picture of Lauren and Pammie. Towards the end, Lauren stopped talking to people and answering questions and would instead glare at anyone who looked her way. She wasn't pleased :)

Back at the store, turning in our gear. Wishing there was a Starbucks nearby!!!

Once we got to the cabin, the girls set off to Pagosa Springs to relax in some stinky water ;)

A few drinks helped ease us in to the stinch from the hot springs!

The spa had hot springs varying in degrees from the 80's to ones that were 109 and up. I think 100 degrees ended up being our limit. It was terribly smelly (did I mention that yet???) but really fun to hang out with just the girls. Lots of laughing :)

A view from the private deck (that we accidentally got stuck on!!!). The underwater bridge in the right of the picture leads to the hot spring that Oprah dipped her feet in on her visit a few years back. Just FYI!

And that was it. An adventure filled day!!!

  1. Crazy that was the same day... Our next river trip will be better, and I am up for a stinky soak in the springs any day!
