We're still here...just trying to get back on schedule after the holidays :)
This tends to happen anytime we go on a long vacation or following a holiday - the kids get all out of whack and take a week or two to get back into the groove. They're having an extra tough time right now remembering our manners and rules in fact, today ALL of their toys got "picked up by the daycare" and when they woke up from naps the playroom was bare...

All toys, books, games, markers, crayons...EVERYTHING...GONE...or so they think (they are actually all put away in the garage). I expected a pretty big reaction but so far they don't really seem to care. I think they assume they'll wake up in the morning and the toys will be back. In reality though, they each have to earn their toys back, one by one. (Lauren has already earned her baby doll for the morning - I feel bad that she lost any of her toys. She hasn't been super these past few days but she also hasn't been as crazy as the boys).
My hope is to make them appreciate all that they have and to take some ownership for their things. We'll see. If nothing else, it will be a great opportunity to deep clean the playroom!
Must sleep, these have been some LONG days here lately! Will blog soon, until then here is a video of the trio Christmas Eve...
Hoping you all have a better day today!!!

TOUGH LOVE!!!! Even the Guinn Girls learned a lesson from the pictures!
ReplyDeleteNana Sharon, Showed the Guinn Girls the Guinn Trips toy room with all the toys and then the very empty toy room. Issy and Alyssa cried for the guinn trips...Makenna then said, "How sad, I'll pick up their toys!"
Needless to say, when Poppa came in and asked the girls to pick up their toys, Makenna was the first to start!
Thanks Stephanie, for making an example for my girls too!
Probaby WAY harder for you than for them!! Seriously - that's crazy.
ReplyDeletehow funny... we did the EXACT same thing to faith's room about a month ago. she JUST got them all back last week! i kind of liked her room all clear of toys and debris. but she was so excited to earn them all back... she forgot about most of the toys and it was like christmas all over again. ha!
