We started potty training again this week and I'm very happy to report that we've had much success!!! (We tried a few months ago and it just wasn't happening. Poor Lauren sat on a potty pretty much all day long and nothing happened while the boys peed on command for M&M's. We felt so sorry for Lauren that by the end of the day we were giving her M&M's for tooting on the potty!). Its a different story now...
I've been telling the trio that when we got back from Florida we wouldn't have any more diapers. While on vacation, Lauren decided she could use the potty and really hasn't looked back since. On Monday when they woke up, we took off diapers and went cold turkey (no diapers at naps or nightime either). Its been exhausting but worth it! Lauren and Logan have both woken up from naps and bedtime for the past two days completely dry!
Lauren is the biggest cheerleader. She follows the boys into the bathroom and tells them how proud she is of them!

We got them each a watch that has an alarm. At first I was setting their alarms for every 30 minutes but that got VERY old REAL fast. By the time I got them all in the bathroom, they did their business and I got them cleaned up, their watches would start going off again! By Monday afternoon I was setting them for every hour and it worked perfectly. By Tuesday, they were really going on their own but they enjoyed their watches too much to take them off. Cracks me up though when their alarms go off...they all stop what they're doing to hold their watch up to their ears to see if its their turn. No matter what they're doing, they'll take off running for the potty!
I decided to do a sticker chart this time instead of the M&M's...thought the candy might be a hard habit to break!
(As you can see, one of us is VERY eager about the potty!)
Here's a little video of them with their alarms. You can't really hear the watches but you'll notice them holding their watches up to their ears and then running for the potty. Logan is my favorite at the end...his watch goes off, he puts down his toys, grabs his Bible and runs for the potty!)
*Please excuse our living room...potty training has done a number on our laundry, especially since we already had a massive pile from just getting back from vacation!*
LOL...that video is way too cute! The watch is a very good idea.
ReplyDeleteWe too are trying to potty train! Although, I haven't gone as far as you, I may now because you've got some great ideas.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, can you tell me what kind of camera you have? I'm wanting to buy a nice camera, and the one you have takes beautiful pictures. I would have never know the beach pics weren't professionally taken - they are beautiful!!!
