Baby C
Often gets mistaken for the oldest due to his size, but Lathan is the baby of the group.
Most recent nickname: Nay Nay (Lauren started this months ago). Lathan was the first to "be named" by the trio.
Lathan is a sweetheart, especially to people he knows really well (otherwise he can be stand offish). He's the biggest cuddlebug and lots of times when I pick him up to go to bed or to comfort him, he puts his head on my shoulder and pats my back. MELTS MY HEART! (He's also done this though if he's in trouble which makes me feel terrible when I have to follow through with a time out, etc.) *I should also note that ALL three babies are very good and well behaved. When I talk about time out, its from the maybe 5 times we've had to use it...EVER!
When Lathan goes to sleep, he likes to lay on my chest. Thankfully he's almost always the first to fall asleep (it literally takes him seconds to dose off) because boy is he getting heavy! He also likes to rub/pat the back of my hand as he drifts in to dream land. Makes me smile because its how I comforted him while he was in the NICU! (Remember he was the one who we had to wait almost a month to hold because he was too unstable respiratory wise...we were only allowed to touch his hand so that we didn't disturb him)
Lathan is the BIG boy in the group. He's a good 6lbs heavier than Logan and almost 10 more than Lauren. Its not even that he's chubby though, the boy is just SOLID! He actually eats less than the other two most of the time. He can be pretty picky unless its fruit! His favorites include: Bananas, Strawberries, Kiwi, Cantaloupe, Purple Grapes, Pineapple, Cherries, Ranch Dressing (he practically drinks the stuff!), French Fries, Grammie's Potatoes, Breads and Bagels, Ice Cream and he LOVES milk!
Lathan has the best hair...its nearly impossible to mess it up. Even if he wakes up with a little bed head, its gone without intervention within a little while of him waking. Funny though, because Lathan's newest thing is to ask for a mohawk. This takes LOTS of effort and doesn't last long!
Nay Nay LOVES LOVES LOVES Mickey Mouse. ANYTHING Mickey Mouse gets Lathan so excited he does a little dance! I can't wait to take him to Disney World this fall! He watches his new
DisneyLand Fun Sing Along DVD (thanks Aunt Sue!) at least 10times a day and each time it comes on you'd think it was the first time he'd seen it!
Lathan really has a love for music and knows the words to most songs. He sings all day long his favorites being Row, Row, Row Your Boat, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and the Mickey Mouse clubhouse soundtrack. He also request
Flo-rida's Low just about every day...he really likes ALL music! And with his love for music comes his love for dancing. If he hears a beat (commercials, out at restaurants...anywhere) he can't help but move! He's famous for his water dance (I'll have to record that!)
Lathan
must have his glasses on when we go outside. If he walks out without them, he'll cover his eyes and tell me too bright! He even pops them up on his forehead by himself when we go indoors. Super cool!
The boy LOVES to be nude!
Lathan is by far the most ticklish of the three and has a belly laugh that is contagious! He is most ticklish under his chin, but nothing makes him laugh harder than his brother and sister. Most of the time its not even that funny, but if it makes Lathan giggle, he just can't stop! (Frogs are also a sure fire way make him belly laugh!!!)
His newest phrases are "oh my gosh" and "uh oh, what happened?". Last night was a classic "oh my gosh"...Patrick picked up a rock from our front flower bed and 4 frogs came jumping out and all around the babies. Lathan started squealing and running around yelling "oh my gosh, oh my gosh"!
And "uh oh, what happened" usually occurs after he's done something he's not supposed to. Like yesterday when he poured my liquid makeup out all over my dresser. For the rest of the day he'd point to the scene of the crime and ask "uh oh, what happened?".
He is fascinated by water...can't get enough of it. From water hoses, to fountains to even bottles of water - its like a magnet and he has to have it! ANY time we go out back he turns on the water hose and spends most of the time watering the grass (and sometimes his siblings which they really don't care for!)
Lathan is the only one who takes a paci (the others kicked the habit at around 3-4 months). I'm not in any real hurry to take it from him (as long as he doesn't start school with one!) I'm hoping that like everything else (from sleeping through the night to giving up naps and bottles) that he'll let me know when he's ready and that we won't have any real struggles. For now, he's a paci man!
Nay Nay LOVES phones...cell phones and land lines! He picks them up props them on his shoulder and has pretend, LONG conversations WITH HIMSELF like..
"Hey yo"
"What you doin?"
"OK"
"Yep"
"Drivin...Emmy/Avery"
"I Love You"
"OK"
"Bu Bye"
Lathan can go either way...Mommy or Daddy though usually Daddy when he wants to eat or be picked up and Mommy when he's tired, scared or hurt.
Nay Nay, you are too sweet for words...we LOVE you!
