We're getting a late start on our fundraising blog post, but rest assured, the Guinn Triplets have been doing their part, keeping busy at all kinds of March for Babies events. We were asked early this year to be the March of Dimes Ambassador Family and we gladly accepted. We feel very honored to be able to share our story and hopefully inspire others to join this extremely important cause.
So far we've...
Done a photo shoot with Miguel Lopez, this years March for Babies Chairman.
Starred in our first commercial...

And been with Gerta Fereday, our March for Babies Director, to companies who have corporate teams set up, to tell "our story" and encourage them to walk.
On top of all that, I'm also the Chairmom for The Woodlands Mom's of Multiples March for Babies!
This year is especially important for us to raise LOTS of money. The babies will turn TWO just a few days before the walk. TWO is a really big milestone for a preemie, for most it means that they can put their prematurity behind them. By two years of age, the average preemie has caught up to peers their same age and no longer has an adjusted age & a corrected age (the difference between their actual birthday and their due date). Not every preemie makes it to TWO as nearly as easily as we have and some preemies will have long term consequences throughout their lives, but other than their 10 (total) surgical scars, a little bit of asthma (Lathan), and very mild hearing loss (Logan and Lauren)...The Guinn Triplets have completley made their way out of the preemie zone, unharmed. And for that we couldn't be more grateful.
Our team this year is needing both walkers and donations. We had so much fun last year at our walk and were one of the largest groups out there!

We also finished 4th for fundraising in the Family Teams category...AMAZING!!!

Tonight the news was on and they were talking about how much money each presidential candiate raised during the month of "March". Each time the news anchor said "March", Lathan said "babies"! He did it 3 times (the first time I thought it was a fluke!). And when he said "babies" the last time, Logan chimmed in and said "March Bay-bEEEEEEs!"*

I too love the video. It is so cool to see how far they've come. We too are doing the ambasador thing. We film our first commerical on friday (any suggestions?).

ReplyDeleteYou should make the triplets walk the whole way this year by themselves! Totally kidding! McKinly just got stuff in the mail yesterday letting us know when our walk was and to start raising money. I had to stop her from going door to door at 10pm last night!
My heart and eyes swell up every time I watch that video - what a miracle they are! I will ask everyone I know to donate to the March of Dimes this year. The results and rewards of their research are so obvious in the triplets. I've always believed in their work but especially now. Good luck in making this an even more successful year than last!

ReplyDeleteWhat miracles your babies are! I love the "please" addition to this year's video! So precious! We can't wait to walk with you and help you surpass your goal...The March of Dimes has done an amazing job of helping get preemie care to where it is today...to where it not only saved the lives of my niece and nephews, but made it to where they don't have any major problems from being born too soon. Amazing!!!
