Mardi Gras '08

Last year's Mardi Gras was so much fun that we just HAD to do it again!

First stop though...Dr. Savrick's office. Our main concern was for Lathan and his lungs. They had really started to sound terrible and his treatments didn't seem to be doing any good. Lauren and Logan had had a minor case of the sniffles so we went ahead and made appointments for all. Good thing we did...we had a round of double ear infections for everyone!

Lathan was wheezing of course when we got to the doctor so they immediately put him on the nebulizer. We were prescribed some inhaled steroids and will do round the clock Albuterol treatments for the next 10 days. So far, so good. He already seems to be doing MUCH better!

Since no one seemed to be feeling bad, we packed up our antibiotics and kept our plans to head to Louisiana for Mardi Gras.

Daniel was so excited to see us!

Not only was it Mardi Gras but since we didn't get to see the Poole's this year for the holidays, it was also Christmas!!!

Aunt Sue helping Lauren open her new dishes

Logan with his wooden train set

Saturday night, we bundled up and headed off to the parade.

Lathan, Lauren and Logan nice and toasty complete with footed blanket sleepers, fleece snowsuits, organic knit hats and gloves and their teddy toes blankets (I know, I know Abby...you're cracking up right now...it was probably in the 40's and we were acting like it was 40 below!!!!)

Aunt JuJu and Emmy, plus me and my gang!

Lauren and Daddy &
Logan and Daniel (either the streetlight was just right in this pic or else Logan was eating a firefly!)

Daddy, Mommy, JuJu and babies

Aunt JuJu eating Lauren's fingers

Aunt JuJu and Emmy

Grammie and her babies!

Here come the floats!

Daddy shielding the babies from the beads being thrown at them!

Grammie and NayNay (his new name given to him by his brother and sister)

The boys pooped out pretty quickly...

But not Miss Lauren!!! She would squeal as each float passed by!

Her stamina payed off...so many beads that we had to stop putting them around her neck (she was starting to lean!)

Logan and Daddy

Group Pic!

Babies surveying all of their goodies

Heads up Emmy!

Logan getting greedy!

Lauren trying out her new pearls

Lathan sporting some cool big beads!

For dinner Uncle Marty made a big pot of his famous Red Beans and Rice

Aunt Sue feeding Lauren

Lauren REALLY liked it!

But as much as my kids liked the beans, no one could have liked them more than Miss Emmy!

How cute is she taking her bath in the sink!!!

  1. Looks like the babies, and grown ups, had a great time!!

Gotta love Red Beans and Rice! We had that last night but it probably doesn't taste anything like Uncle Marty's! (even though I've never had the chance to try it)

  4. Hey now, 40 degrees is cold for you guys! Every time I come home and it gets below 50 degrees I still find myself digging through everyone's closets looking for a coat. Congrats to you on getting all of the kids to bundle up so well! I can not get Bubbies to wear mittens at all!
